Say goodbye to the blurry images
Monitors
In highly competitive gaming, every second, or even every millisecond, holds the potential to significantly impact the outcome of a game. As a result, many gamers dedicate themselves to training their reaction time and seek out improved devices to reduce response time and input delay. However, there is one factor that often poses a challenge during gameplay: motion blur.
What is motion blur?
Motion blur is a phenomenon that can be observed in various aspects of our lives, such as vehicles passing by on the road or people engaging in sports activities. Typically, we notice motion blur when we are stationary and observing objects in motion. This effect can also manifest on monitors when displaying fast-moving visuals. When motion blur becomes too pronounced, it can negatively affect our performance and overall gaming experience, sometimes even causing discomfort. Nevertheless, motion blur does have its applications. In certain game settings, it is deliberately employed as a visual effect to enhance realism, particularly in racing or sports games where conveying a sense of speed is essential.
When human eyes saw fast-moving objects, motion blur would appear.
ClearMR
ClearMR is a newly established standard introduced by VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) to provide a precise numerical value that indicates the ratio of clear pixels to blurry pixels. In the past, there was no specific standard for quantifying the blur level, and our monitor quality assessment relied solely on its speed. Consequently, determining the quality of motion blur when purchasing a monitor proved challenging. With the introduction of Clear Motion Ratio (CMR), comparing motion blur quality becomes more straightforward and fair.
ClearMR encompasses multiple tiers, ranging from ClearMR 3000 to ClearMR 13000, each representing different levels of blur based on the clear motion ratio. Higher CMR values indicate superior image quality with reduced blur.
MEG 342C QD-OLED
MEG 342C QD-OLED is MSI's inaugural gaming monitor that has received ClearMR certification. It has achieved a ClearMR 9000, indicating a ratio of 85-90 clear pixels to each blurry pixel. Therefore, the MEG 342C QD-OLED boasts rapid response times and delivers crystal-clear images to mitigate the issues caused by motion blur.
