What’s HDMI2.1? How can it benefit gaming?
Monitors
Back in 2017, HDMI2.1 was launched by HDMI Licensing Administrator. The standard and specifications were released, but It still took some time to bring HDMI2.1 to the market. In recent years, there have been more and more displays coming with HDMI2.1 on the market. HDMI2.1 includes several new functions, supporting 4K@120Hz, 8K@60Hz, Variable Refresh Rate, Dynamic HDR, QFT, etc.
Why HDMI2.1 can do more than HDMI2.0?
The answer lies in its bigger bandwidth. HDMI2.1 can handle 4K content with a high refresh rate, thanks to its increased bandwidth of up to 48Gbps. In contrast, HDMI2.0 only supports 18Gbps, making HDMI2.1's bandwidth almost three times greater.

HDMI2.1 supports Dynamic HDR, improving the quality of videos. In contrast to the Static HDR of HDMI2.0, Dynamic HDR can effectively optimize each individual scene and frame. It makes the video more picturesque.
Support QFT
HDMI2.1 introduces many functions for gaming. Variable Refresh Rate is one of the amazing features, especially for console players. (To learn more details about Variable Refresh Rate, please click the hyperlink.) The graphic cards work and generate the images on the monitors. This process, often termed a delay, requires a certain amount of time. Quick Frame Transport (QFT) effectively reduces this delay between monitors and GPUs, resulting in a noticeably smoother gaming experience.

Since the new generation of GPUs and Consoles are equipped with HDMI2.1, the displays must also keep pace with the times. MSI is dedicated to building excellent gaming monitors for every gamer. Not only for PC players, we also try to satisfy console players. For instance, one of our famous feature – Console Mode.
MSI has a series of gaming monitors which are equipped with HDMI2.1. All of them have full bandwidth – 48Gbps, supporting the perfect experience for you. We can enjoy 4K@120Hz smooth and high-quality images on consoles or PCs. We take the benefit of HDMI2.1’s new features like VRR, Dynamic HDR, QFT, etc. For example, VRR makes us play games on the consoles without image smearing.
During Computex 2023, MSI introduced two new 4K gaming monitors MAG 274UPF and MAG 323UPF. They are equipped with Rapid IPS panels, providing lower response time and excellent color. Consider multiple scenarios on 4K monitors. We offer diverse options, including Display Port, Type-C with 65W Power Delivery, and the 48Gbps HDMI2.1. When you are using the monitors working and gaming with multiple devices, the KVM function and power delivery will be helpful for switching between the devices and decreasing the cables on the desk.
