Introducing Rapid VA Technology: Enhancing Response Time for Immersive Gaming

Before beginning the topics, we first introduce the characteristics of VA panels. VA panels offer impressive contrast ratios and exceptional flexibility. They provide deep blacks and high contrast, enhancing the visual experience. Due to their flexible nature, VA panels are often used in curved monitors, with some monitors boasting a curvature as pronounced as 1000R.

Above we have known the advantages of VA panels, but it’s a shame that VA has a short. Its response time is 2-3ms. This number is higher than IPS or TN. Because VA’s response time is not fast enough, we’ll see ghosting or smearing on it. Sometimes, they will affect the game experience.

With the advance of science and technology, VA has turned around. It’s a new technique that makes VA faster. In order to distinguish it from the original VA panel, we called it Rapid VA. It keeps the advantages of VA panels and improves the shortcomings. The response time is the disadvantage of VA panels. It is not as fast as TN and IPS. Some gamers even considered that the response time of VA is slow. For the people who pursue the fastest response time, they are forced to choose IPS or TN. Due to the material being improved, the new material significantly reduces the time of liquid crystal flipping. The liquid crystal layer of Rapid VA is thinner and the driving voltage is higher. Makes it to achieve 1ms GTG response time. It is the same level as Rapid IPS. It’s a big change compared to the original VA panels.

Thanks to Rapid VA, individuals who value the immersive experience offered by curved monitors or appreciate the visual quality provided by high contrast ratios no longer have to compromise on response time. This breakthrough technology allows users to enjoy the benefits of VA panels, such as high contrast ratios and curvature, without sacrificing response time.

MSI has recently introduced two Rapid VA monitors, namely the MAG 275CQRF-QD and MAG 325CQRF-QD. These monitors are designed specifically for gamers, offering an ultra-fast 1ms GTG response time. The inclusion of Rapid VA technology ensures that gamers can enjoy swift and responsive gameplay, allowing them to quickly react to in-game events.

One notable feature of these monitors is the 1000R curvature, which provides an immersive visual experience. The curved design helps reduce eye movement, giving gamers a more comprehensive view of the game and quickly identifying important information on the monitors. MSI also adds Quantum Dots Technology in our Rapid VA monitors in order to enhance the color, promoting to the same level as IPS even beyond it.

At Computex 2023, MSI showed MAG 275CQRXF and MAG 325CQRXF during the exhibition period. Both of them are equipped with 240 high refresh rate and Rapid VA panels. As GPU performance becomes more powerful, gamers have higher demands for refresh rate. These two models will come out in the near future, please stay tuned.
